Slide notes:This lecture discusses ethical issues in health informatics. Just as in the medical field as a whole, health informatics professionals face numerous, and sometimes difficult, ethical issues. After a brief discussion of professionalism, this lecture examines four ethical duties of health informatics professionals: the duty to represent credentials accurately; the duty to protect patient privacy, including the related ideas of confidentiality and security; the duty to respect patients and coworkers; and the duty to respond to unethical practices by others. 4
