Slide notes:The Veterans Health Administration (VA) is the largest integrated health system in the United States, consisting of one hundred fifty-three medical centers and fourteen hundred community-based outpatient facilities. The VA also includes community living centers, Vet centers (for outreach), and domiciliaries [ dom -uh- sil - ee-er-ees ] to care for patients with long-term medical conditions in a home-like atmosphere. As with any integrated health system, the VA provides primary, secondary, and tertiary care. 26
