Slide notes:An example of an administrative hearing process can be seen in the Social Security Administration, or SSA. If someone is denied benefits, he or she can request a hearing from an SSA officer. If the hearing officer still denies benefits, the person can request a review by the Social Security Appeals Council. If the applicant is dissatisfied with the Appeals Council s decision, he or she may file a case in the U.S. District Court. 21
