Slide notes:Its mission is To promote continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of health care management through processes of accreditation, education, and measurement. URAC is one of the fastest growing health care accreditation agencies, with more than 30 programs addressing multiple aspects of health care, including health care management, health care operations, health plans, pharmacy quality management, and providers. The accreditation process includes a review of policies and procedures, plus an on-site visit to the organization to determine that it is operating according to its stated policies and national standards. In recent years, URAC has established an accreditation for accountable care organizations. A ccountable care organizations, known as ACOs , are h ealth care organizations characterized by a payment and care delivery model that ties payment to quality metrics to achieve reduced cost of care for an assigned population of patients. URAC has more than 30 accreditation and certification programs for various types of health care organizations. 16
