Slide notes:The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, estimates that as of 2012 approximately one out of two adults had at least one chronic disease and that seven out of the top ten causes of death were due to chronic disease. The CDC estimates that one of every four individuals has limitations in daily activities as a result of their chronic disease. The CDC also points out that obesity is a contributor to chronic disease, and is rapidly becoming a major health concern and a source of increased health care expenditures. 13
