Slide notes:There is a dichotomy between institutions and organizations, and providers in the Canadian system when compared to the NHS in the UK. Most hospitals in Canada are public institutions funded through the provincial or territorial health programs. At the same time, the Canada Health Act uses public funds to pay health care providers, who are mostly in private practice on a fee-for-service basis. 19
