Slide notes:A community mental health center provides services for individuals of all ages who have a chronic mental illness or were recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital. Community mental health centers provide outpatient care, twenty-four-hour emergency care, day treatment or partial hospitalization, and psychosocial rehabilitation to help patients eventually function on their own. Facilities that meet these criteria are reimbursed for services by Medicare. 27
